How the designs professional designs a Part L1A specification.

The design professional should draw the project to sketch stage showing internal dimensions, ceiling heights, position and dimensions of windows and the orientation of the building on the site, he should not complete the working drawings with sections until he has designed the fabric using the Foresite system. Input Section:

The designer simply inputs the dimensions required by following the automated drawings and building types. These building types and automated drawings are systematic and will ensure that the correct dimensions are collated by the assessor to calculate an individual y factor; U value and design dimensions needed by the online SAP software that will prove compliance.

Design Section:

The software systematically takes the designer through each element of the Part L1A specification giving design options based on the fabric first approach and the level of performance required Current, FEE, Extreme Fabric building regulation.

In the fabric design the software will present the designer with the U value calculator, typical details, best practice most suited to the method of construction chosen, when the designer has chosen a performance level and insulation material to be used the software will automatically give the depth of insulation to reach the performance level required. The designer has the option of designing the fabric U value themselves by increasing the depth of insulation to be used in the calculator, if this is done, they should refer to the technical information supplied to ensure the depth input into the calculator can be physically achieved on site.

The software will present the designer with the typical details and best practice and technical data specifically for a project based on the design decisions made when setting up the project and this will help the designer with the design process for Part F.

Result Section:

The software simply collates the design dimensions and decisions made by the design professional and inputs them into our online SAP software which will show if the project is compliant with FEES and the level of performance require and in the jurisdiction were the dwelling is being constructed.

If the dwelling is non-compliant because of bad design, then the designer simply presses the non-compliant button, suggestions on how to cost effectively make the dwelling complaint will be given to the designer.

Tender/Building Control Documents and Drawings:

The designer can download customised tender/compliance documents for a fee of £100.00; payment is made by using PayPal. The Tender/Building Control Documents and Drawings will consist of : A summary of the twelve compliant elements of the Part L1A specification; The calculations for the U values y factors; A SAP Assessmentwhich is proof of compliance; A library of all the typical details specifically for a project which is populated with the fabric specification specifically for that detail. The designer will need to have PayPal credits before they can download the Tender/Building Control Documents and Drawings.
